This Tagxedo represents my Literature Review by representing what a person can think of when they reflect on the words Parents, Teachers, School and Transition. These words would not work together correctly if there were no communication. Open lines of communication between school and home lead to students that transition to an adult life with a disability successfully. Communication between home and school allows students to learn “Functional Life Skills” at school and practice them at home.
This second Tagxedo gives a clear picture of what Functional Life Skills are and how they can lead to Independence as symbolized by the Liberty Bell of Functional Life Skills.
The purpose of my Action Research Project is to engage my students using Web 2.0 tools as they learn functional “Life Skills” leading to a more independent life as a student, then as an adult with a disability. I hope to support the literature by establishing an open line of communication between students, and home, as each family learns these important “Life Skills” together. Students will learn these skills in the school setting and practice them at home.
It turns out that I will be presenting at two conferences not one. I am more comfortable talking to a group of people than I am presenting a paper.

Dear David:
Congratulations! Your program on Utilizing Web 2.0 Tools has been accepted for the 2013 Convention of the Illinois Council for Children with Behavioral Disorders to be held on Feb. 1-2, 2013, at the Wyndham Lisle Hotel in Lisle, Illinois.
All speakers will be expected to register for the convention if you wish to attend the other sessions that are part of the conference. We do hope you will participate in the entire convention. If you are only attending your session, you may attend at no cost. ILCCBD does not pay any honorarium or expenses for our presenters at the breakout sessions. In order to reduce AV equipment costs, if you are able to bring your own equipment, we would be most appreciative. Otherwise, if you will need equipment, please let me know that no later than December 1, 2012.
If you will not be able to present, please let me know right away. This letter is being sent only to you as the lead presenter. You are expected to communicate with your co-presenters.
Thank you for being an important part of the ILCCBD conference in February, 2013.

I chose the Illinois Council for Exceptional Children because in the past I was a member of CEC and ICEC. CEC (Council for Exceptional Children) and its local chapters are the “Voice and Vision of Special Education.” This would be the perfect forum to present my Action Research Project. The Illinois Council for Children with Behavior Disorders is also a division of CEC/ICEC and after talking with Bev Johns we decided that I could adapt my presentation to include Coping Skills or strategies. I plan on using a model called Positive Peer Culture as part of this presentation.
I will be out of my comfort zone for sure as a presenter, but I know I can do it. The EMDT program has given me a large tool kit to draw from. I will be transformed into a conference presenter. In the long run, it will make me a better teacher. This presentation will bring new ideas to teach very important life skills to teachers that perhaps need to change their own teaching environment.
